Janet L. Bumgarner, 71, passed away May 17, 2017 with her family by her side.

She was born July 18, 1945, the daughter of Phillip R. Schultz and Helen (Trapp) Schultz.  She lived her whole life in Indianapolis.  She went to Scecina Memorial High School and was a Surgical Technician for 35 years at Community East Hospital, where she loved her job.  Janet was a member of Nativity Catholic Church and St. Lawrence Parish.  She was a part of Bible Study at the church.  Toward the end of her life, she has enjoyed coloring and spending time with friends and family.  Her family describes her as the most compassionate and loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend.

Survivors include two children, Sheri (Greg) Luedeman and Tony (Janet) Bumgarner; grandchildren, Connor, Jacob, Nicholas, Emma, Jennifer, Brandi, Diane; 13 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Sharon Hawks, Steve (Debbie) Schultz, Phil (Rosie) Schultz.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Richard Bumgarner; and her parents.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 22, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Nativity Catholic Church, 7225 Southeastern Ave., Indianapolis, with one hour of visitation prior to the service.
